ph question

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by fasthonda, Jun 15, 2012.

  1. Just wondering about what my water should be for.my seedling as far as ph goes it has been in rockwool for two days now. It is looking good. This morning when i looked they were opening up the firstbset of true leaves i think it may be time to water it. What should the ph be. As soon as i see good roots in putting it in a bubble bucket. Right now have the rockwool buried in hydroton top watering

    Hi fasthonda,
When using rockwool cubes I pre-soak my cubes & water at a PH of 5.8.
Should be instructions on the package, I believe last time I used Grodan.
    Cheers:D

    edit: Grodan says 5.5 ph.

  3. I sit mine at 5.8-6.0 on hydro. Youll naturally climb in pH (more basic) over time so you could start at 5.5 and let it slowly climb to 6.0

  4. optimal ph for hydro is 5.8. this number covers the most nutes made available at 5.8. as for ph'ing seedlings, i never do. i only start ph'ing when i add nutes, which you don't need to do until around dayy 11 or so. or when you have 3 alternating internodes.

  5. +1 on this. You will burn em if ya nute em too early.

  6. What is the range for seedlings in soil? (ph) 6.0-6.2?

  7. Have never grown in dirt. Couldn't go too wrong with 6.0 is my thought though.

  8. Yea i have been doing a 5.8ph
