ph buffer issue and questions

  1. Any input on this would be really helpful.
Part one---After adding my nutrient recipe to my watering reservoir of 20gl, my ppm reads around 1000 with a ph of 5.5. I'm using a ph up buffer by mad farmer to bring it to 6.6 but its messing with my ppms like crazy. Once I reach 6.6, my ppms are around 1700 - 1800 borderline burning... I had hoped that there may be a product out there that can raise my ph without so drastically raising my ppm.

Part two--- after reading a post on the importance of ph adjustment, I read that potassium carbonate is a bad ingredient to have in a ph buffer while it can affect your yield potential. I'm wondering if anyone uses a product with only potassium hydroxide and water??? Has anyone diluted their own solution from potassium hydroxide flakes or powder?

    Thanks for any help guys.
