Peat moss, ewc, and perlite. ( seedling question )

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by Remoc05, Sep 29, 2018.

  1. I have 4 plants. 3 weeks old now.
Did 1:1:1 mixture of peat moss, ewc, perlite in a solo red cup. ( cut drainage holes)
Everything going good until day 13, leaves turn yellow and wilt.

Is this from not enough nitrogen ?
I thought seedling would be ok with any nutes until at least two weeks.

I have 4 more germinated seeds ready to transplanted and my question is

What mixture should I use ? I’m going to have them in a bigger pot so they can. Stay in the same pot for 3 weeks b4 transplant.

My supplies are peat moss, ewc, perlite , Alalfa meal, crab meal, kelp meal, lime.
This is left over from my first attempt which is continuing on so I don’t have much time to let it “cook” as they’re germinated.

Or could I mix some of this material with any potting soil from Home Depot ?

    I’m a noob I know

  2. Peat moss holds water hence it holds nute too

leading to the current poisoning you have

extract from that soup with a large spoon consider the roots

and gently wash in an bath of air temp water

then replant to a proper mix low in nutes with 50% perlite

or just re stat but then you won't learn nothing

    good luck

  3. Maybe I didn’t make sense.
They were like this without any nutes.
I just transplanted them into a pot with nutes.
I was just wondering anyone’s take

  10. Hey what kind of ewc did you use? The plants look like they have root problems, possibly overwatered, or maybe root bound? How many ounces were the starter cups? What was your watering schedule?

  11. Did you add any lime to this mix? This doesnt look like overwatering to me (and definitely not nute toxicity...), more like PH issue which is why I ask about the lime.

And as for what mix to make, check out this thread some good info on that:

  12. Yes I added it to the mix. But they were like this before I transplanted them into the cooked pot.

Does Anyone have any suggestions for seedling starting out?
Should I add a tiny bit of kelp with ewc, perlite, and moss?

  13. Was there lime in the mix you germinated them in (solo cups)? And did the yellowing start before or after the transplant?

Also check the link in my previous post there is a seedling mix in the first page.

  14. No lime in the seedling one. Okay will do
Yellowing after 13 days in solo cups

  15. Yeah, peat is acidic and will turn soil acidic over time so lime must be used with it.

  16. That link you gave me is cool thanks.
    What’s VC mean though ?

  17. Vermicompost. Compost thats half way worked on by worms.

  18. IMO you might have left them in the solo cups too long. The last batch of seeds I sprouted, were in rapid rooters and I put them in their big pots after the 2nd set of leaves formed. If you only have peat moss, ewc, perlite , Alalfa meal, crab meal, kelp meal, lime in your mix I would add gypsum, basalt rock dust, neem seed meal, and fish meal. yep.JPG
