Overheating.

  1. My laptop overheats extremely easy on any surface... Music crackles and everything lags until it cools down. I usually hold it near the window... Its an HP Dv6 laptop... intel core i3 m330@2.13Ghz(4 CPUS) and i have 4gb of ram and windows 7...

Anyone have an idea of why its doing this... It used to work fine on any surface... i even got a cooling pad and it overheats on that,,
Someone said it might be something with my heatsync.

It OVERHEATS BADLY... sometimes even from only running youtube or winamp...

  2. Do you have your processor or gfx card overclocked?

  3. It has got to be the graphics card. I don't think the i3 will get hot enough to do what you're describing.

Call HP. I bet it's under warranty still if it's an i3 processor.

  4. Hey i figured it out.. I changed the power settings so my screen would stay on overnight, but in my custom settings the cooling system was set to passive and in recommended settings it was set to ACTIVE... So i switched them to Active and im good now... Probably did some damage to my laptop tho. :(
