Chronic Pain OsteoArthritis Cannabis and pain: a Journal.

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by tzorge, Apr 20, 2018.

  1. Some of you might know me, but i guess most of you don't :) so small intro:

I live in the EU; pretty illegal to grow where I am...

Since 2009 I have had an undiagnosed condition which affects my wrists. Back then the conclusion was that my joints are very elastic, this in addition to the angle of my ulnar deviation, caused me pain.

When i asked for a name of my condition, the doc said there isn't one. I asked how many people have this, one in.... a million.? he shaked his head.... i asked one in a billion....the doc said he had no clue, and that there was no medical history of my condition that he knew of.

He told me even though he was a wrist specialist surgeon whose job was to operate on me he would not do so for risk of collateral damage i.e. i would lose feeling to my hand. (thankfully he was an honest one)

For the first 6 months i had pain only on my right hand.

I had been a recreational user of cannabis and at the 4 month mark, my dealer got busted, i did not want to engage another dealer, so I was left with no ganja.

For 2 months i endured the pain to my right hand, but 2 months into the hiatus from cannabis my left hand started acting up.

I remember the day clearly... boy was i scarred. I knew my left hand was as fucked as my right... The doc simply confirmed that my left hand too had an ulnar angle deviation which meant pain....

This pain cuts across my wrist, at first it is more like a tingling but if i continue the pain inducing activity, the pain increases. So if i have manul intense work today, tomorrow pain will remind me of that fact... if i continue straining my hands, pretty soon the pain is simply unbearable.
I end up unable to open a door, put on shoes, etc...

In February 2018 i set up a raised bed which involved carrying a lot of heavy bags of compost. (Did the Charles Dowding method). Since then I have had constant pain on my left wrist, thumb and fingers. (Pain moves around ).

After an MRI and a few xrays, last week, (finally) I got some sort of diagnosis. The doc diagnosed arthritis across both wrists. Mind you the osteoarthritis was caused by my condition, which is still undiagnosed.

The purpose of this journal then is to document my condition and its (possible) treatment by consuming cannabis and other medicinal plants.

I do not like pharma much and would avoid anything synthetic.

I do not profess to know much neither about growing nor on healing... so if you are looking for expert advice i will have to disappoint you.

I do welcome however any and all input/comments and advise.

(end of intro will update soon)

  2. Smoking causes athritus so I wouldn't overdo the weed. Just use it now and again.

  4. I'm a long term smoker of cannabis and I've noticed it's been starting to give me clicky bones and joints. I tell you right now man if you don't wanna make that arthritis any worse then take it easy on the weed I'd say a joint before bed is good. But that's it. None in the daytime or shit like that.

You know that stoned feeling you get when you vape it's sort of like an ill feeling ....that's the weed making you Iller. Sorry so be a downer just wanted to put that out there that weed doesn't really help with arthritis makes it worse. It may take your mind of the pain but it most certainly not be a long term solution.

    The evolution of my Medicating:

    March 1st I got this Endoca CBD oil 10% i took 4 drops morning/night
in the meantime I was trying to make an edible/tincture.

April 2nd got my hands on some good hash which i was told was morrocan... This ended up quite awkward as it was mostly sativa... I enjoyed the ride, don't get me wrong, but it did not do much for the pain.

The relief i got basically was that my mind could wonder off and forget the pain but only for a bit.

April I finished off the 10% CBD oil and got a 3% raw CBD product from Endoca, which contains CBDA as well.

Starting about 20 of March i have had the following smoothie:

    1-2 bananas (for the smoothness)
10 grams fresh turmeric (ended up being too much i am down on this dosage)
a teaspoon of raw heather honey
    a teaspoon of coconut oil

To this i would add the 10% cbd oil. I add it after i pour it in the glass, dont want that cbd to get wasted XD.

Having read a bit more in the last couple of days I updated the recipe to this:

    1 bananas (for the smoothness)
    1/2 mango
    3-5 grams fresh turmeric
a teaspoon of raw heather honey
    a teaspoon of coconut oil
A Table spoon or more freshly ground pepper

Mango: supposedly make THC effect stronger, last longer
black pepper: take the edge of the paranoia of THC, make turmeric bioavailable, and strong anti-inflammatory
Coconut oil: again help with bioavailability.
    turmeric: strong anti-inflammatory
    Honey: strong anti-inflammatory

So I have read that people with arthritis have more cb2 receptors in their joints, what i am trying to do is load them, with anti-inflammatory goodness (hopefuly).

    Word of caution
Turmeric is quite a potent anticoagulant, which i found out on the MRI bed.

  6. Well I am sorry to hear about your issues and experiences I hope all goes well.

My experience has been a bit different.

  7. I'm just looking out for you because over here in Europe our doctors don't do weed on a prescription because it's illegal. Over in the USA where you can get a medical card the doctor will talk to you about your individual issues and help you. Have you consulted a doctor about taking cannabis?

  8. Thanks for this. Did not mean to put you off, just my experience points to the opposite of what you describe. Per my initial post.

You are spot on mate there are no docs i can talk this through with.

I have thought of maybe going to germany to a doctor there because they have it legalised for medical use. But i am pretty sure they will not know much on the issue.
Its new, and a big taboo so really i would think my only recourse would be the states.

The doctors where i live suggested that i quit weed lol. They never suggested what i was to do with the pain though neither so... i have had to deal with this on my own.

  9. Well I've stopped taking weed and I feel better however you are preaching to us very hard that it's helping you and about all the benefits it has for you so I hope to see some good news and a good outcome in this report you are doing and I hope you find the cannabis helps you get better.

You wouldn't need to go to Germany to talk to a specialist doctor you could do it online but you might have to pay. However you may be able to find a doctor who will give you advice for free maybe on these forums or another if you really wanted to speak to one lol

  10. I beg to differ, I for one would like to have a face to face with a doctor, need to be able to judge not just their science but much more, their character, medicine is big business.

I never preached, nor proselytized anyone, i want to share how I try to cope with pain, not for any other reason but to spark a meaningful discussion and perhaps receive advise by someone who has suffered the same or similar.

And can you provide some proof (other than you have noticed clicking sound from you joints?) on your claim that Arthritis is caused by smoking weed?

Anyway don't wish to make this a runt but won't allow this to become a circus either.

    So back to my medicating:
Today woke up with subtle pain across left wrist.
Right hand acting up while i type.

I am to make a GD today out of some 60 grams AVB. I will be using a partial GD, from fan leaves which has not yet been reduced in an effort to make the GD more potent.

i use a Mighty vaporizer, and started of today with lemon haze auto spiked with a bit of hash.

  12. So i just finished first rinse of the GD. Shaking it is a pain!

Time for 2nd capsule, again lemon haze spiked with hash.

  13. On to the reduction now.

i ended up with circa 400 ml of the 600ml of alcohol i used.

time for 3rd capsule, again lemon haze + hash.

    No smoothie today.

  14. 4th Capsule lemon haze hash.

    GD has reduced to half.

    Think i'll go down to a 100ml.

  15. So managed to spill some GD which i promplty scooped.
Had 6 drops of the raw 3% CBDA CBD from Endoca, along with a squirt of GD.

Capsule 5 was lemon haze no hash.

Capsule 6 currently smoking is my own unknown buggy seed from my 2nd grow.

Will dose 3 squirts of GD and go for a walk with dog.

Pain wise: no using hands no pain typing this hurts my right hand like a fucker though.

Overall day pain level is 6/10.

  16. Finished off the day with another 3 caps.

Today woke up to pain in my right wrist. Yesterday i decide not to LITFA and started fiddling with my blumats....
ended up flooding the grow tent twice...

The cleaning up, increased the pain in my hands.

On a happier note, the GD this time round seems to be potent enough though mostly a high and not very much of a stone.

Will start of with 1 cap lemon haze auto spiked with hash

  17. Pain 7/10.
Both right and left wrists, right index finger and left thumb are sensitive. Making a tight fist is a no go.
    Typing is not pleasant.

Just finished cap 2 lemon haze with hash, and gonna have another on the trot.
Going to add a bit of CBD wax along with the standard hash, but this time i'm using a white widow i grew.

Thinking of it will have a squirt of GD (dose= circa 0.5 ml) before that.

    No smoothie today

    cheers!

  18. 4th cap White widow as pain level is elevated today.

    GD has subsided a bit.

  19. Using the mouse wheel is a real fucker!

Cap 5 just got blazed. White Widow(WW) Lemon Haze Auto(LHA) spiked with hash.

If this goes as is I am in for another drop or 3 of GD.

  20. Had the GD last night and another 3 caps.

Already had a cap of LHA, pondering on making a cayenne turmeric coconut oil topical.

Pain has started at 8/10, wife had to grind the weed for me.

Now i am down to 6-7 for the time being...
