opinions of why its still illegal

Discussion in 'Marijuana Legalization' started by myrtlemybeach, Jun 4, 2006.

  1. Thats the thing, many people make wine and beer in theri basements. It's all relative, moonshine would be popular if there was another alcohol prohibition.

  2. I think if they legalize it we will end up paying much more for much weaker weed. Personally I have no problem with it being illegal. I accept that everytime I smoke. I like the prices and the potency of the weed I buy now. I don't need the government deciding how much shit is worth and how strong it should be.

you are stupid. "opiate wars'?? lol. dude there is no such fucking thing as opium wars you watch too much star wars buddy lol. these people (most of them) are correct about weed being hated on in america in the 20's they used to think it was as bad as alcohol but never compared it to opium lol. they used to say youd get reefer madness if you smoked it and i forget the name of the man who started all this weed bullshit in the 20's but i know all this for fact just watch the movie grass. im sure alot of people have seen it and thats where i think alot of this info im hearing is comming from. its good to share thoughts and info but its lame to go around claiming everyone is outright wrong and start babbling about the empire and starwars and shit lol seriously if this were a public forum in real life you would have no thoughts to share (talk to people on here as if the forum was a place in real time and space on earth then anything you say will be more likely heard and then if you wanna go off on a shit talking spree you can lol)

shut your fuckin ass up next time you think

What the fuck? This kind of post is unacceptable. There's name-calling and complete disrespect. Consider this a warning! *RMJL

  5. I don't understand it, I live in California, I have a club card, I smoke legally, transport legally..

^^ That alone should show ppl's ignorance, that it is not soo bad.

  6. In my opinion, I think it's still illegal because the government wouldn't make a huge profit off of it like they do with tobacco and alcohol.

  7. You don't need to be a dick jackass. Opiates and cocaine were outlawed in 1914. Marijuana was outlawed in 1937. Why would they do that if they thought marijuana was an opiate? Get your facts straight next time. http://blogs.salon.com/0002762/stories/2003/12/22/whyIsMarijuanaIllegal.html

    Watch the name-calling please! *RMJL

  8. maybe i missed something but according to those, the opium wars took place an entire century before weed was made illegal. Its illegal because of A) the mexicans imagrating to texas were smoking it. texas settlers diddnt like being crowded with mexicans so they demonized marijuana, which almost directly demonized the mexicans. B) black jazz musicans were known to smoke it and racists began to make rediculous claims about how it made them feel.

  9. Combat, I agree. At least that's one of the biggest reasons it's not legalized in Canada. Governments of "socialist" countries, such as Canada, feel the need to control things such as alcohol sales, of which weed would fall in the same category - both drugs.

So with the relative ease of "backyard growing", control of weed sales would be quite difficult.

  10. It's illegal because they're people who have no common sense, or self respect for themselves for that matter. They are aka. "Drug Abusers," the sad and odd part of it all is that Alcohol is the MOST abused, yet it's some how still legal.

We could sit here and rant all day on the Pros, Cons, If this happened or didn't happen, but what I do know is. That almost everyone I know has tried smoking maryjane before, and that smoking is becoming very popular amongst the people.

Give it no more than 10-15 years, it will bedecriminalized in most states.

  11. They may make it, but it's most likely not as good as shit you could buy. If you've ever tasted moonshine, it's pretty disgusting. Even stuff like 90% Golden Grain is better.

    That's exactly my thinking.

  12. It would make to much sense to legalize it?

No one wants to realize that they were wrong about it, no one wants to believe it is beneficial to you. No one likes to admit defeat, no one likes admit they were wrong.

  13. Hell yeah.. FUCK ANSLINGER THAT RAT BASTARD!

  14. I had the same discussion with my mom today. We both agreed that it is illegal because of the US and untill Bush allows legalization it will be illegal.

  15. Actually that's a good point. Just imagine the border problems we'd have if Canada legalized. We already have people wanting to amp up border control (because of terrorists, guns, etc). Legalizing would be the final straw for these people. American officials would hate us even more, (for not conforming) and we'd be another Mexico to them - hypothetically speaking of course. :p

  16. goverment cant tax it because its to easy to grow yourself thus goverment can not make lots of money of it and thus they dnt like it and make it illegal so when they find you possesing it they can fine your ass and get money out of it its all bout the money hehehe :D

    free your mind lmao

  17. Ive seen alot of people mentioning the flood of inmates that would be let loose and thats a good point. But my opinion on that is, they broke the law, just because the goverment changes their mind on mj being legal will not change that at one time it was illegal and they broke the law just like now. Break the law and you go to jail. See this as time served and set up a program that would allow the inmate to be given a chance to to succeed when they come out. that way when they reenter the society they able to move forward. Alot are in there for nonvoilent crimes such as simple possesion and stuff like that. give them a few pounds or so when they get out. free weed always makes me happy.

  18. The billions of dollars spent every year on the war on drugs could be used to buy every marijuana field in the world and destroy it. Why don't they? because they need something to fight against in order to win votes. A fun little factoidl; The partnership for a drug free america is run by tobacco and alcohol companies.

  19. This is what Bill Maher said on his show on HBO on 4/28/06:

Now, just in the last two years, the "medicines" that have made the headlines under the category, "Take two and call me in the morning if you're still alive," include Vioxx, Ambien, Zyprexa, Ortho Evra, Prempro, Zoloft, Paxil, Ephedra, Celebrex and Fosamax.

And yet it was marijuana last week that was declared by the FDA to have no known medical value. Actually, what marijuana has is no known lobbying value. And, yes - yes, back in 1999, when we still believed in science, the National Academy of Science said what millions already knew from practical use, that weed is useful in treating pain, nausea and weight loss. And that lab rats exposed to it were 38% more likely to forget the maze and just kick it old school.

Folks, drug companies are pushers, and Congress and the FDA are the cop on the beat who's been paid off to look the other way. New drugs used to have to go through a rigorous process of testing. Now they just give it to Courtney Love, and if she lives, it's approved.

And by the way, just to prove who has the power in this country, that fake FDA report about marijuana having no medical value was issued - on purpose, I am sure - on April 20th - four-twenty. And that joke only makes sense to stoners.

So, mom and dad, if your kid just laughed, you might need to search his room.

  20. because there is no industry in it.

if it was legal i'd had MY OWN backyard full of plants. and the gov't wouldn't get a dime for it.

they know that, and see no benefit to them to legalize it.

that and picture the gov't actually saying, "we're sorry. the last 70 years of marijuana prohibition have been for nothing. even though you have peacefully sat by and worked towards getting your plant legalized, we were pricks and decided to not give it to you. but now, we decided to be nice and legalize it."
