I see socialism as the stage of society between capitalism and communism where private ownership and control over property are eliminated. The main goal of socialism is the ultimate abolition of private property rights including your very personage. We were once capitalist, now becoming socialist and well on our way to full blown communism. Most Americans do not want socialism and damn sure not communism. You don't hear any lets try this instead? The federal Goverment needs to get rid of every tax possible and get the hell out of the way. The govermnet does not run a capitalist economy, it runs itself. I think a lot of us have been screaming that we need to do what Alaska did and NOT what California did. Alaska tapped their own resources, cut social programs, lowered taxes and put money back. Now when the economy is down Alaska is flush with cash. Alaska has billions in surplus. However California decided not to tap natural resources, instead they increased spending on social programs and raised taxes driving out businesses and now California is completely bankrupt. But not to worry because we have socialism in this country so BO and Pelosi will be STEALING money from Alaska and GIVING IT to California! It all works out real swell. It sure is a good thing that dumb old Sarah Palin never became VP, she could have wrecked the whole economy. Our whole nation will soon be just like California.
Um, sure, if you were to draw up a vast political (and very exclusive) political spectrum between capitalism and communism, socialism would be an intermediary component. Never said there wasnt .. Idiocy is not categorized by income... A poor person can(and often times) do lack ethics. Rich people can be just as stupid if they just "coast" through life with what their parents gave them(I blame the parents for letting them!). The only difference is that when a rich person decides to get their act together they have their daddys help... When a poor person decides then they have to start from 0.... I've always been on the lowerend of the middle class, as have most of my friends and their families. Right now no one has money. It's not cash we don't have, money. Everyone gets paid and my mom gets a social security check around the first of the month. They pay the bills and the rent and its all gone.
