Newbie to forum and growing looking for advice with cuttings

  1. Hi,

I am a new member here and this is my first time growing weed.

I am one of those nature people, ya know save the earth talk to the trees all that jazz, I grow pretty much anything here and it was inevitable that someone would have me growing weed in the end.

I am growing my weed naturally, I was given one not big but nice sized weed plant which is doing fine, it's nice and happy. I took 3 cuttings from it the day before yesterday.

I had the cuttings in a good quality root soak solution that I use for propagating all my seeds and cuttings and the cuttings were fine, they were stretching towards the light and looking perky and happy. My friend who donated the initial plant came round and said I needed to pot them straight away.

I was going to leave them in the solution until the first shoot then pot them so they would have more chance of rooting but under my friends insistence I potted them. I gave them a good water with the root soak solution. Now today one of them is looking perky, one looking is looking OK but not as happy as I would have liked and the 3rd was on deaths door.

I took the one that was on deaths door and put it back in the root solution and it does seem to be reviving it but it was a close call.

I have 6 more cuttings swinging their way to me at some point this weekend. F1 strain or something, I do smoke but I am not up on the different strains as I am not a fussy smoker :smoke:
I am here looking for advise on rescuing my dying cutting and for the cuttings I have coming so I don't nearly kill them too!

    Thanks very much
    Gill

  2. The "cuttings" are actually what are refered to as "clones". DO NOT POT until you have a good root system or most will die! good luck on your grow:smoke:

  3. Thanks for replying. Should I take the other two clones (thanks for the correction ;) ) out of the pots?

  4. Mamma,

I also grow natural (orgainic). I leave the clones in a mix of perlite, peat moss and a little worm castings until they are well rooted. I use the peat pots and transplant once the roots start coming thru the sides of the pots. Keep your clones moist and once you transplant they are about the same is tomatoes so far as nuts are concerned. However, they need to dry out alittle more between waterings.

There is an organic growing forum on here that is very helpful and the folks on there have a world of knowledge. Very good reading.

    hope this helps.

    Peace!

  5. momma,

As for the other clones, depends on how well they are rooted. Fertilizers, even natural ones, are to strong for tender clones, and will burn them up. I would probably put them back in starter mix.

  6. I found the organic growing forum thanks very much for the pointer.

I am not at all kitted out here, I usually grow fruit and veg and have compost, propagating trays, plant pots, a good quality feed for fruit and veg plants, tomato feed, root soak and window boxes with covered domes. I have no specialised feeds or products, this was all dropped on me out of the green you could say.

I am not sure if the 6 new clones that are coming have rooted or not, I suspect they may need intensive care by the time they get here :-/

Thankfully the Moon is new tomorrow and we have a waxing cycle to take them through! )O(

    Peace to you and yours
    Gill
