New British cannabis laws

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by GuyontheCouch, Dec 19, 2002.

  1. I've been hearing a lot of conflicting information regarding the changes in British laws regarding weed. Can anyone confirm the details of the new laws, and when they will come into effect?

Another thing: Does a UK penny coin weigh exactly 1/8oz?

  2. Without going into great detail, MJ is to be downgraded to a class C drug, in July 2003. Therefore small amounts for personal use will no longer be an arrestable offence. Although selling and buying will, you work it out lol.

Whether a penny is "exactly" 1/8 th not too sure, but it does weigh just over 3 gram so as a general idea of weight then yes.

  3. well, if selling and buying is illegal, how are you supposed to get the "personal amounts"?

  4. Don't you mean that if you're caught with say an ounce, you'll only get fined like $100 instead of being arrested? that's how it goes here.

  5. If you are caught buying you will be arrested, if you are caught selling you will be arrested, if you are caught in possession it will depend upon the amount, if it can be considered for personal use then nothing more than a simple caution by the police.
To be fined in england you need to be arrested first.
