  1. hey there everyone, just updated my Norton Antivirus and it found a trojan. It says its unable to repair it.

    Virus name: Trojan.LowZones

    anyone have any advice??

  2. yeah. when you scan it and it shows the virus, see where it is located. ie. c:/programs/program.exe or something like that. Make sure that they are the same names. but usually if you click the virus thing on norton it takes you inline and gives you maual instructions to remove that specific trojan.

  3. Do what _jeff_ said.

  4. yea thanks, im on the site right now trying to figure this out. says i should put it in safe mode then do a bunch of editing to the registry and such. i think ill do that a bit later i guess.

  5. good lluck. i hate all that garbage trojans and sstuff. i never like norton though because it never once fixed something on its own. i always had to do it. i wanted to get another brand but i got a mac instead. its so much easier.

  6. Install Linux.

  7. http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.lowzones.html

I'm not sure if that's what you're already seeing from Norton, but it has a pretty good description of the virus and (I thought) easy step-by-step instructions for fixing the bit of stuff that the virus fucked up.

Sounds like you've got no real damage to the computer, just some settings changed so that web sites could do damage if they tried.

  8. You want to give the poor guy a migraine, don't you?

  9. oh shitty. turns out theres more like 10-15...

thats no good. my anti virus software had run out for about 6 months. just got it renewed it today.

looks like i might just have to back up all my important files and just reformat the guy, unless i can get someone to help me, im not very computer savve with this sort of thing...

    any suggestions guys?

  10. http://housecall.antivirus.com <-- Run that using Internet Explorer. Hopefully it can be of more use in removing it.

http://www.download.com <-- Look for Ad-Aware and Spybot: Search and Destroy. Install and then updated and then run those programs and clean what they ask you to clean.

Run a virus scan again, if it finds any Trojans/Worms/Viruses that haven't been removed, follow the steps to manually remove them that you can find on Symantec's site.

That should take care of the problem. It is just a trojan you're dealing with, right? There shouldn't be a need to format/reinstall at this point.

  11. hahah agggg

now the internet wont wont, so im on my oldschool other computer. something about my IP address not being able to be reset.
