My Saturday night

  1. This Friday I found out my buddy Jim was getting free tickets to the Tigers/Red Sox game on Saturday. I hadn't been to a Tigers game since early last season, so I told him that he was an asshole, and I was jealous. Apparently the guy he got the tickets from, a season ticket holder, had a death in the family and could not go to the game. Later on in the day, Jim gets a call from one of his friends who now cant make it. After Jim gets off the phone, he turns to me and says, "Well, wanna go to the Tigers game tomorrow?" I was fucking stoked.

The next day, Jimbo picks me up around 5:45. We take off to go downtown, and smoke a few bowls of some cali weed my friend brought for the occasion. It was here we discovered our dilemma: I was broke, and so were 2 of the 3 others in the car. We had no money for food, beer, or merchandise. We were feeling kinda bummed about it but still excited to see the ballgame. As we were walking to the park, a guy on the street asked if we had any spare tickets. My friend Kyle says "No", but I tell him to hold on. Then I share my plan:

A couple blocks away from where we were standing stood the Greektown Casino. I would sell my ticket to him, make a bunch of money in the casino, buy another ticket to get in, then track down my friends. I got rid of the ticket for $40 and ran my ass off to the casino while my friends headed to the game. As soon as I entered I went right to the blackjack table to try to make some quick money. I made a $20 bet and lost, but decided to bet the last $20 and hit blackjack! My luck seemed to continue, and after 5 quick hands of assorted bets I was up $103 OVER the original $40. I quickly cashed out, and started running back to the stadium, stopping only to buy a pack of smokes.

It took me a little while to find a ticket, but I got one for $30. It actually wasnt far away from our original seats in the 32nd row. It was kind of hard to find my friends though, especially since I was still pretty baked and I couldnt exactly remember what section we were in. Soon enough I found them and showed them my winnings. They were surprised to see me to say the least, they figured my idea was pretty stupid and they wouldnt see me until they got back to the car after the game. In the beginning of the second inning, I was sitting with my friends behind 1st with my first beer.

13 and 2/3 innings and 6 beers later we walked away with a win, and I got a pretty cool story to tell. After we got home (well after 12am) we got blazed as fuck, and stayed up till 5am watching TV and playing Wii. It was pretty cool.

With the win today (another great game), its the first time since 1992 that the Tigers have swept the Red Sox in a home series.

  2. Hell yea man, sounds cool as fuck.

I havent been to a tiger's game in years haha.

  3. It was a lot of fun. Luckily with Comerica, Ford Field, and all the casinos downtown, the city is starting to actually see some money so maybe something will come of it. I hate talking to people from across the country who think Detroit is the black cloud over America when they have never even been here.

  4. yea... when we hosted the superbowl things started to get really cleaned up.

  5. Fuck that man, the sox are winnin it this year!

  6. yessssssssir!

  7. We will see. They are both great teams, and it was a very good series. Games 2 and 3 were very close. There were a few times I thought the Tigers were going to lose. I cant wait for postseason.
