My future

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by ByBySucker, Jul 25, 2013.

  1. I haven't been thinking a lot about my future and what I'm going to do. People always say to find something you love, and something that I have grown to love is growing the wonderful herb. I don't have any dreams of being very rich or anything like that. I want to make enough money to get by. I have been talking to a friend of mine about going into business in Colorado growing and selling to dispensaries or starting a delivery service . I do not know very much about the legal business in Colorado, and I figured there would be a few blades out there doing what I hope to someday. This is all just thoughts, nothing iron clad. I do have a few questions, is this a reasonable dream to have? Does the state make it difficult to do something like this? (Licensing and what not) and if theres anyone out there that is doing this, is it worth the trouble to go legal? Because I have heard of places still getting shut down by the feds even though its legal in their state. If this is in the wrong part of the forum I apologize. Any answers are much appreciated

  2. There's always prostitution. Well that and gay porn. You gotta start somewhere then work your way up.

  3. I don't know man, but as soon as I get my degree I'm going straight to Colorado and going to try and find a job because I really want to get in the business.

I'm getting my degree so I have something to fall back on if it doesn't work out / I can have a job while job hunting.

  4. That's a good idea. What are you planning on getting a degree in man?

  6. I'm not from Colorado so I guess I wouldn't really know but I'm pretty sure you have to grow majority of your stuff onsite aka at the dispensary. That's one of the reasons why Colorado is booming right now because all the HVAC, lighting, electric, and contractor work needed to renovate these places being turned into dispensaries. Given that it's still federally illegal I wouldn't put all your eggs in to the pot growing basket. Just because the Feds are turning a blind eye right now doesn't mean it will remain that way. Hell look at what happened in Seattle TODAY. A bunch of feds ran up in dispensaries putting guns in the faces of bud tenders and owners and cleaned out their inventories. They didn't give them any reasons why either than that it's still federally illegal.

But Obama did say when asked about the topic of marijuana "we've got bigger fish to fry". AKA not shit is gonna happen for the time being. It's kind of a very awkward standstill between state and federal government.

  7.
I went with computer engineering and programming.. I thought it would be best since it's a booming industry

  8. my plan is this year i need to get in contact with dispensaries and such in denver and tell them what i plan to do.  I want to go to a college there and get a couple degrees. one in business and the other in a medical field such as a radiology tech or something like that. then get a job at a dispensary part time while im in college and learn the trade and how things work and when i get out go into my field of study then start saving up to open a dispensary. I'm good with money and selling stuff so  :devious:  i just hope one dispensary admires my willingness and likes my plan and encourages me.

  9. This sounds like a great idea, but just out of curiosity what do you want to accomplish by contacting dispensaries?

  10. a job where they understand im a student thats going to school to get right back into the business but higher up.

  11. This is not a dream you want to live out.

  12. Get a real job grow a small amt of mj on the side. I've had multiple friends get busted by feds 5. Its not legal on a federal level and all the people I know growing weed struggle each month.. sure there are tich people who setup 40000 watt grows. Yhey af e making bank. But small time growet will have to use a lot if wattage to even get enough mj to distribute to get by.

    Just my 2 c

  13. Basically the market has already been dominated. And people know where they will be getting there buds esp in a legal state .

  14. Oh, so like when your looking for a job?

  15. like i want to work there throughout college and speak to them before i get down there and tell them my situation and what i want to do. and hopefully they will like my initiative and offer me a job offer when i get down there. then once i graduate go higher up in the business and hopefully my own dispensary

  16. its not a cake walk man. this is still federally illegal. Just because its legal state wise doesnt mean the feds wont knock down your door. Think of it like this: Say you want to supply dispensaries ok? You are going to have to go commercial. Best way to go commercial is outdoors, lets say you pull 50lbs of outdoor. (better be primo too) 50lbs being the min. if you want to survive until the next grow season. So lets say you get big in the industry and the feds decide they're going to take you down. Get ready to do at least 15 years in prison. Can you do that? The business isnt what everyone thinks it is. If the DEA wants to take you down, they will. But of course everyone says  I'll be smart about it, or I just wont have a HUGE op. If you want to grow enough to make a living off this, then you will need a pretty big op. Big enough to put you on the feds radar.

Not trying to crush your dream but im just saying. Its a hard market to get into. if you get into it you wont go anywhere unless your bud is some of the best, and then if you manage to complete those 2 then you have to worry about the feds.

How many grows do you even have under your belt?

  17. In california it is hard to get any one of importance on the phone unless you know someone, its also hard to get a job unless you have boobs (but hey this is socal haha). Hopefully someone will see you really want it and go for it. Good luck!

  18. Good luck to all the people trying to get into the business. I need to do a lot more work and research beforehand.

  19. Right now, 1. But I did not want to do this right away. I was thinking more like 4-5 years and see if the legislation changes by then. Hopefully it will. Thanks for the reply man, cleared up some.questions I had. Much appreciated

  20. And just to note growing outdoors IS NOT EASY. My buddy just had 45 plants seized from him due to choppers picking up on their heat signature. They didn't bust him but his shit is GONE and that was only 45 plants. Growing mass quantities can be a full time job with full time stress and full time workers helping you.
