My buddy acts ashamed

  1. I've always had the same two best buddies since I was young. Tommy is immature, overweight and shunned regularly -- it's normal to have arguments or to be inconvenienced by him. Then there is my buddy Mark. He's cool, has friends, has a life. Whenever Tommy is a dick, Mark ditches him to chill with me and vice versa. But as Mark gets older, all our past experiences seem to be getting clouded. Growing plants, hitting up the casino, rolling kegs into the forest. You look at Mark and it's obvious he finds these tasks increasingly complicated. These days whenever he is carrying tree, he seems ashamed that he still smokes. He has it, but he doesnt want to smoke it. I'll look over and say "doobie?" and he'll ignore me completely. Every half hour I ask the same thing.. one word.. and after asking 5 or 6 times he'll sigh and roll it. But then he tries to put off lighting it. Someone asks "doobie?" and he'll ignore it again.

Now that I think about it, he's ashamed about alot. Ashamed about where he lives -- never wants to go home. Ashamed of his family and his financial committments. And I don't have a fucking clue what to say. When Tommy is a stupid shit, we confront him, but with Mark we cross the line before we open our mouth. Respect is a two way street, man. When Mark asks you a question, you reply with a question and then he doesnt say a damn word for 10 minutes... I'm pussyfootin around this shit and all I ask in return is no guilt trips every time I want to spark a spliff. If you don't want to smoke, thats cool... but don't take that option away from everybody around you!

I have friends exactly like that and you need to slap both of them upside the head and tell them to start acting like reasonable humans cause what their doing is kinda unhealthy
