ok, 1st keep it at 3 foot mate, smaller is better & if not 3 foot yet top asap.(as said look into bonzai,great mothers) top your plant early it increases the primary root system giving it a solid foundation. the young branches grow healthy & strong stalks which support new shoots when you trim her. then as it grows & you take cuttings/trimming 2 new branches will grow at node(the armpits of the plant) site below each cut ,therefore you keep height & width in check by trimming when you have the desired height/width you want.& have a nice bushy mother. even if you dont want/need cuttings keep trimming as will make her grow really bushy & give you clones for years. so summary ; top early, keep trimming too keep at height/width you desire. its that easy mate plus you can keep a mother for years. all the best M. ps; if allready 3 foot then trim back to a smaller size & then do as above. will get real bushy in no time.
