Metal Halide Question

    Do you h=need to use a ballast, or is there another way to get that baby lit up????

    ya you need a ballast for any Hid light.

    ya the ballast regulates the electricity the lamp draws. if you didn't have a ballast it would eventually draw enough power to either 1) start a fire 2) explode the lamp 3) trip the breaker. or even all the above.

    don't even think about not using one.

    I remember GE made some 75w self ballasted (like compact fluroecent) a while ago, but as for just a bulb it needs a ballast of the same wattage just not any ballast.
