You seem like you've seen to many movies and think this dealer is going to be like the drug kingpins you see on TV. He's just a person.
not a drug kingpin, just most are usually paranoid, like one of my dealers back home i actually never got to meet cause he always had one of my friends go inside and get the bud, pissed me off that he didn't trust me stopped using him really quick
My dealer in Maine would always try and meet in the center of town, right next to where the cops would sit and catch people speeding. He was a sketchy guy, though.

I never really have a steady dealer, always meeting new ones. Actually best friends with one dealer I met through another friend, but he doesnt deal much and introduced me to 2 other dealers.
Awkward? There's absolutely no reason to feel awkward unless they sell you weed without pants on, or something else that really IS awkward.
