  1. I really don't see how anyone can argue against single payer healthcare being the final answer. It's working well in Canada and most modern countries. The USA corporate welfare machine, Big Pharma & insurance companies lobbying against it is all that's holding it back. That and a few who just can't see how it works by eliminating the middlemen so to speak and the "profit margin" that drives drugs & healthcare to insane amounts compared to other countries.

This video is actually inspired by statements from former Starbucks CEO now would be POTUS what's his name... lol
14 min. with a Canadian's take that nobody can dispute with actual facts such as the Koch bros. sponsored conservative think tank showing it would save TRILLIONS of dollars if put in place... Also the majority of people including most republicans on the street are for it. I rest my case but feel free to present your data on why it won't work other than maybe a bit of a bump up in taxes (but less than your savings on co-pays, drugs, hospital stays, doctor visits, etc.)

  2. Lol David Doel, I'm embarrassed to share a nationality with him. Current US public medical spending is around 1 trillion. The deficit grows every year, with mandatory spending devouring 60% of revenue in 2018. The US needs to be thinking about how to reduce spending liability rather than looking to massively expand it. And don't tell me "just cut the military budget" because while defense spending also needs to come down, you could stop military spending entirely and still not be anywhere close to affording "Medicare for all".

Jacking up tax rates won't yield the extra trillions of dollars needed either and would have harmful side effects besides. I don't think most people grasp just how much money universal healthcare for 350 million people would cost.

  4. I'll go for it, we're already paying for most of the healthcare of the uninsured anyway. Anytime someone without insurance doesn't pay their hospital bill the cost is spread among the rest of us because the medical community isn't in it to loose money, they jack up prices for the ones who do pay. I also think there's too much waste in the medical industry and think we spend far too much trying to keep dying people alive. IMO if there's no reasonable hope for recovery then pull the plug. I've seen far too many people doing their best to die and their families, who aren't paying the bill, insist everything be done to keep them alive as long as possible, even when they are unresponsive. Cut that shit out and it'll make a big difference.

And if you're not an American citizen expect to pay before you get access, no exceptions.

  5. Single payer health care by the same gov't that can't even balance a budget? By politicians that tell us we only have 12 yrs to live anyway? Thanks but I'll pass.

  6. Correct as usual.

People don't seem to be able to differentiate between quality healthcare, and free healthcare for all.

  11. Reminder that that health care is a service and not a right. If it were, which it isn't, doctors would be slaves to that right.

  12. Medicare For All - Once & For ALL........ Why?
Why do we need to have Medicare forced upon us? What is it about Medicare that makes it necessary for everyone? Why isn't health care a free market commodity like most things? How will Medicare improve our lives?

  13. It literally is a commodity.

  15. It may work on a state by state basis, but will never ever work on a national scale.

    The math just doesn't work.
You could literally sieze every asset and income from the 1% and it wouldn't cover a fraction of the cost involved.

The current Medicare and Medicade systems can't be run efficiently, not sure how an expansion in a massive scale would be any better.

They can't even run the senate cafeteria without waste and corruption being involved..

  16. The article is dated from last summer but the results by the libertarian think tank funded by fossils who made their vast fortune in fossil fuels will become increasingly pertinent as the 2020 primaries draw closer... Not doubt the cons & neo-liberal dems will keep harping on the $32 trillion cost over 10 yrs while ignoring the savings (reduction) of $2 trillion from current healthcare costs today.. All lame stream media tweeted about "Bernie's $32 trillion cost" of single payer while ignoring the net savings of course.
    ***

"The US could insure 30 million more Americans and virtually eliminate out-of-pocket health care expenses while saving $2 trillion in the process, according to a new report about Medicare for All released by the libertarian Mercatus Center."

Even Libertarians Admit Medicare for All Would Save Trillions

  17. I know one thing, if they do pass universal health care, members of Congress better be on the same exact health plan as everyone else. No protected elite, we're all in this together, if it's good enough for the people you represent then it's good enough for you.

I could go for a reduction in my medical expenses but I'm wary of out of pocket expenses increasing along with wait times. We will see what the future brings but the premiums and copays we're paying now are out of hand...

  18. The military and other socialist state run entities in the US get free healthcare. If the statists don't have to pay no-one else should.

  19. Don't forget the poor, they also get free care and so does everyone who don't pay their bill for whatever reason, the rest of us are paying it for them.

  20. Should be free for one and all or free for none Ed. Why should statists get it free and you have to pay?
