I stopped reading the thread when I saw this... Just wanted to concur with you on that. But yeah, if the date hasn't already happened then you should make chicken catchatori and garlic bread. It looks and sounds fancy but its really just pasta w/ chunks of chicken and green and red peppers. Its awesome.
If you're making Italian, go easy on garlic so after-dinner activities aren't interrupted by garlic mouth. Sorry I keep hinting towards sex-for-dessert, if that's not your intention
