I always wondered where the term "loud" came from. My friend said it's because it's so strong it makes you cough loud. But when I first saw it, someone said it on Facebook and I was kinda high and blurry vision so loud kinda looked like the word bud lol so that's what I thought...
It's originally a phrase for the smell of something. If someone refers to something as "loud" it usually means it has a pungent odor.
