When a seed sprouts can you put it under a 250 watt hps with some distance and will be fine? I read that you should put it under a flouro until about 4inches then switch but i was wondering if the hps right away would be fine.
Yes, you can... Just keep the light a good 2 feet from them. I did with a dual 400W MH/HPS and they grew like crazy. Makes for nice bushy plants, not those tall 6 inches between each node you see around.
