how many plants do you wanna grow first? For an hps your looken anywhere between $135-$400 check out hps's at insidesun.com.your going to need at the least 2500 lumens per sqaure feet.
go to home depot. Depending on how many plans you are going to grow......i cant tell u the wattage. But for now just get some florescent bulbs. Either get 2 4 ft 40w cool whites or warm whites and get a shop light fixture for them. or get a compact florescent (cf) and plug it into a normal light socket. for that get whatever wattage u want. im not firmiliar with cf's
