I purchased a 36x36x72 tent, and I am wondering if a 400w or 600w system would be best for the space. Also, I am looking for opinions on the fan/co2 filter below: 6 x 18 ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER, 240 CFM ODOR SCRUBBER on eBay.ca (item 330295250608 end time 11-Jan-10 13:02:09 EST) Any other recommendations are more than welcome!
A 400 watt will be fine but if you can control the temps you can go with the 600 watt if you want. That carbon filter with the fan is no good, You want a fan like these- http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/valueline-inch-435-cfm-centrifugal-inline-fan-p-2260.html http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/active-air-400-cfm-inline-duct-fan-p-2754.html also if you have the $ you should invest in a good carbon filter like a Can filter, thats one thing you really shouldn't take chances with by buying a cheap one.
Thanks for the reply. I'll take a closer look at these fans. Will a 6' space allow for sufficient plant growth with the 600w ballast? I have read that it needs to sit more than a foot from the plant, does this sound correct?
It depends on your temps. If you have an air cooled reflector you would be able to get it closer to the plants then if it wasn't air cooled. It also depends on how you plan to grow them, If you do a scrog, sog, or lst 6' is plenty of room. If you want tall plants then 6' is probably not enough room.
I'm planning on doing a dwc grow w/ six plants in a rubbermaid container. sog seems like an easy place to start. One final question, is 4" ducting sufficient for a 400w system?
