Well yea it would work for the vegetative stage, but you need a ballast as well to go with it. Also, that bulb is 4000k which really isnt the best color temperature for chlorophyll activity. You would also need an HPS lamp for flowering. If your low on cash, only looking for a one plant op, then get a 250w hps. It will get you through the veg and flower stages.
