hey guys, im switching over to 12/12 tonight, in less than 2 hours, and with a new found job (kick ass, haha,) and the different hours, i realized it might be prudent to get a light timer. 1) where can i get a light timer? 2) how do i install it? I have a 400 watt hps system from HTG 3)what tools do i need to install it? i cant figure out how it would work... i dont think theres a spot to hook anything else up to the ballast.... and theres no switch on the light..?? any help please??
Any local hardware store will have one. Digital ones are nice, but a basic one will do, just make sure its a heavy duty model with a 3 prong plug, they are fairly cheap, 5-10 dollars. No tools needed, its plug and play, but does take setup of the hours of course. You hook up the ballast to a heavy duty power bar, or the timer itself, then plug the timer into the wall. Simple. Ace hardware sells good models.
Plug the timer into the wall, ballast into the timer. Get it from home depo, lowes, wall mart any shop looks somewhat like this. Will come with instructions cost around $6
this is what i've used: http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs...+500025+90401&marketID=90401&locStoreNum=8125 work's great, cheap and can handle a good bit of wattage. be careful with some digital timers, they can have much lower wattage ratings in my experience.
