Life as we know it is just a game.

  1. Take a step back from your daily life and view it from the eyes as an outsider. One begins to realize that this babylon system where everything is monetarily ran-is made up. We made this commercialized civilization, where every little thing has a fucking pricetag on it. Sorry to say earth is the low point of the ladder of consciousness evolution. Our colective conscious makes up the universe as we know it. As our vehicle that we use to experience our earthly life dies off, our conscious lives on and is reincarnated into other forms as higher dimensions and our awareness of the universe is furthered. The mind is very powerful, but is often hindered by society. "Life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves."-Bill Hicks

  2. You were making some sense, then half-way through you totally lost me.

Marxism suffers from the same concept; inherent corruption and incompetence

  3. Yeah same here. I was following until maybe the 4th or 5th sentence.

  4. i'm going to try and make sense of this...

we've made a commercial civilization, and that was then connected to our conscious living on and us being reincarnated?

    sorry, i don't follow.

  5. possible translation: the things that have a price tag on them are not the most important, despite what the marketers say. We should focus on ourselves, as invididuals, and a society, move ourselves forwards somehow, instead of buying crap and moving backwards.

  6. Yeah, so... Marxism

  7. correct. I was kinda putting two thoughts of mine together. How I feel about society today and my belief of the after life.

  8. Well, since this thread is already on two tangents, I might as well give my opinion on both.

    - Commercialism:

I don't know. I like the freedom it gives, but on the same time I agree that too much of our collective focus is on over-hyped crap. Niche markets is a good thing, but we can't all be niche consumers. The "bad-taste-mass-produced-duped-masses" will always be there as long as there is a buck to be made in that segment. And since it quite frankly is the majority, that marked will always exist, and money always to be made.

But people generally speaking isn't dumb. The message of global warming and enviromentalism will spread, and as a result the masses want ecological merchandise. Markets will shift, like they have many times. Always serve the lowest common denominator, and if that says "Enviromental!" then every company on the planet will make good and well sure they can meet some enviromental criteria. This will in turn lead to commercial science finding new and cheaper ways to do enviromental friendly products. It's win-win really. Eventhough we will have the same crap, just "green"...

Trying to get rid of consumerism is just elitism, and in actuality no better than any, say, religious, besserwisser moralism (that got this ongoing campaign to get rid of sex except under very special circumstances. "Been working on it a few years you say? A few thousand years?! Oh, excuse my hearing. Getting old. Had any luck?").

    :D

    - Life a game:

Get used to it. Either you want to play, or make your own rules. What pays isn't good to say. Play by the rules, and you'll be more or less guaranteed a comfortable living in the western world. Make your own rules, and you basically throw the dice. Many of us try a combination. I know I do. 9-5 job, a mortage, 2 kids and a divorce. It's not excactly me. Maybe I'm childish, but if I'm going to live this life, I'm not letting it race by being stressed all the time. Don't get me wrong, stress is good in moderation. Work is good no matter what. But setting ones own schedule is what makes handling it well possible :)

  9. exactly. All this Global Warming hysteria is just creating a whole new market. All these fucking new lightbulbs- which by the way contain mercury in them, all these cars and they claim they give off better emissions, and a bunch of other shit they claim is going to save the earth. How about the govt. stops fucking lying to us and tells us that it is very possible to have fuel as water and it's even better than oil! If regular joes can tweak their engines to run on water than I'm sure as hell the govt. has known for ages. The only problem is if they do that it gets rid of the largest industry on earth- the oil industry. But thats no fucking problem to me.

  10. I know seriously! I hate how everybody is all up in arms about Global Warming...I mean it really isn't true. Just watch An Inconvenient Truth and you'll realize how stupid global warming is and how it's all just a big plot for us to spend more. I can't wait for 50 years when the polar ice caps still exist!
    /sarcasm

Talking about commercialism is one thing, but don't say people are making up scientific facts just for monetary gain. Sure some people will profit from the problem, but people profit from all situations. I suppose that may be your point, but that's the way it's always been since humans figured out specialization. I'd much prefer specialization than doing everything for myself. I guess the other route to your point is socialism and the ideas of Karl Marx, which has been mentioned.

  11. Global Warming is a fact, though the planet has been through such cycles before, it is a concern as it can effect our economies and lives, but not a cataclysmic event, at least I do not think so. However, what is disputed is whether or not we are the cause of it. I am leaning towards the idea that we are in fact, not the cause. At any rate however, it does not matter if we are the cause of Global Warming or not. Global warming in and of itself is not the important issue. We are, quite literally, poisoning our planet. We are technologically able to not poison our planet, we should really stop doing it. Our infancy is not quite over yet it seems, and that is very sad. However, I do have hope, many people seem to recognize that, which can only help us in the long run. So, here is to hope. :)

  12. Why would you lean towards the idea that we aren't the cause? It's pretty clear. We've released so much carbon dioxide (through the over-user of cars and other such transportation) into the air that it's forming a bad in the atmosphere that traps the suns rays. That in turn makes our planet hotter. How are we not the cause? The carbon content of our atmosphere is much higher than it's ever been in the past million years.

  13. Why would I lean in the direction that we are not the cause? Because there is evidence to suggest that the idea we are the cause is flawed. Not to long ago people were gripped in the fear of Global Cooling, and of course, the world was going to end.

I could not find the video I saw that explained it, but the following links should help explain my position.

Hey I am not saying I am 100% right on the issue, I could be wrong, though I did support the idea of human caused global warming for a long time. At any rate, those who believe we are the cause of Global Warming suggest changes that I myself agree with, simply because, we are poisoning our planet. That is not in question, not by me at any rate.

  14. I never said that it wasn't a fact, but what I'm saying is your friend Al Gore claims the world is going to blow up in 10 years which leads me to believe changing some lightbulbs won't do shit. There's a global warming thread a couple threads down so I don't want to get off topic. Also if we were so serious about stoping global warming then why have we yet to find an alternative fuel source? Because is oil is the largest industry.

  15. Man, come back when you're sober and ready to talk some sense. You sound liek a freaking Scientologist.

  16. anything I said has nothing to do with scientology, nice try though. Go back to the recreational marijuana forums and start a thread with what munchies you ordered. Or educate yourself a bit and actually have a rebutal than "you sound like a scientologist".

  17. That's funny fucked in a way that's fucked.

Having an ice age during the period of global warming.

  18. i agree with rasta, this is Marxism.
