  1. How would you describe yourself from far-left to far-right and everything in between?

    I'm a compulsive liar,nothing I say here is true.

  3. Your point is

    I'm a compulsive liar,nothing I say here is true.

  4. Extremely far left, basically, if we are born only to eventually die, we should be able to do ANYTHING that does not harm your fellow human beings.

  5. Are you aware that you are a libertarian, not a far left Democrat? Welcome to the club, agreed!

  6. Liberal, Socialist, call it what you want, for me it boils down to this - If you wanna go out on your back porch and smoke a joint after work - go ahead, but don't have 7 kids and smoke weed around them all fucking day. If you want to smoke weed all day, don't have a kids, because the kid is gonna grow up and start smoking weed, your gonna tell the kid "HEY, don't do that, I want better for you!" and the kid is gonna say "Go get fucked you worthless hypocrite"

So do what you want, with consideration for the people around you.

  7. I am for creating a world with the least amount of suffering, therefore, left-wing.

  8. Neither. I think declaring loyalty to a political wing makes you a bit of a dumbshit.

You become more of a dumbshit if you campaign on your side being always right, and the other side being always wrong. You become the worst kind of dumbshit if you ascertain that your ideology is good for humanity, and the other ones aren't. That's called turning politics into religion.

I'm a political relativist. Case by case, let's sniff the facts and do what's best for our community. Not follow in a pre-set doctrine.

  9. There can only be one truth, though.

Otherwise, all nations would be equally benevolent, because all political leaders believe they are doing good.

Then again, the fact remains that some nations do more good than others. Some do more harm than others, like Saudi Arabia.

If you denounce Saudi Arabia for its treatment of women, then you are not a political relativist.

  10. No.

I treat different cases differently. In one case I may have strong socialist tendencies, in another I may have anarcho-capitalist tendencies, in a third I may feel that Christian ideology has the strongest point to make.

I do not choose my side first. I choose my side when I stand educated. This is what seperates us, for example.

  11. Well, everyone has individual, specific opinions on political issues that fall somewhere between the right-wing or the left-wing spectrum, I think.

I guess some people tend to have more right-wing opinions vs. left-wing opinions, and vice versa. So you are a centrist?

  12. I'm left when it comes to drug use etc.
But right on matters of immigration etc.
    Thanks for all the responses.

I'm a compulsive liar, nothing I say on this forum regarding cannabis use is to be believed.

  13. It is so nice seeing you kids talk "left" once again after decades of being in the closet. We need all elements of philosophy or politics to succeed as a people and nation.

  14. Yes, your first statement is absolutely correct.

No, to the second statement, though it's an understandable suggestion. I am not left, right or centrist. I do not tie myself to the spectrum. I don't even like thinking about it. I'd prefer it wasn't there, it makes easy labels and enemies of us, ruins the information picture we're supposed to have handed to us objectively by the press, and generally makes the world a much worse and contentious place.
But I have to deal with it because everyone else wants to throw their dart on the dartboard and make it stick, you know? Where is your dart, VikingToker. It has to be on the board somewhere.

This is all pretty new tho, it's just a few years ago in my early 20s that I was a die-hard globalist/social democrat advocate. Norway is great, everywhere should do like we do. Look after everyone. Sounded pretty much exactly like you, which is why I spend all this time writing you long responses. That kung-fu - our kung-fu has some serious weaknesses, Jane. I think this will creep in on you, slowly, as it did on me.

(I could be totally wrong, this is just an opinion.)

  15. Gotta agree though, the left-wing vs. right-wing spectrum tends to constantly change in definition over time, and can confuse the crap out of some people.

Like .. why is the gay pride movement considered a Left-wing movement, when communists were strictly anti-gay?

  16. It's all madness.

This is why you should divorce yourself from the spectrum.

I am and will always be in favor of freedom for homosexuals, and will be hostile towards anyone who is hostile towards homosexuality. This statement of humanity has nothing to do with the spectrum.

  17. I suppose the only reason I label myself as a leftist is because .. well, I get called a leftist by a lot of people, so by communicating the fact that I'm a leftist, people can more or less get an idea of where I stand on issues?

  18. Try not doing that for a little bit. :) See how that glove fits you. It fits me real snug, all the way down to the roots of my soul. Like a perfect condom against political STDs.

People who attach themselves to the spectrum will be more likely to listen to what you say when you don't pick a side, too. Otherwise, those on your team will find a reason to agree with you, and those who aren't on your team will find a reason to disagree with you.

    (Is my experience)

  19. I wouldn't put a label to it because that limits me...but I basically believe in a small, limited central government.

  20. If you put a label on yourself you can expect people to assume all of the descriptors of that label apply to you. I

Political philosophy is far more complicated than how far left or right one is on a line.

To answer the question. I seek liberty for myself and those around me, but I am no statist.
