Leds cool white lights vs warm white.

Discussion in 'Lighting' started by Sade, Aug 24, 2015.

  1. Ok ever since realstyle built his own led I have been extremely interested. Yes we all know realstyle can be quite stubborn but also very knowledgeable. So I read cool white has a higher lumen which makes best for veg. So the warm works best with flower. Know my question is. If I did build an led should I just go straight white leds ranging from warm and cool spectrum? Or should I still add a blue and red spectrum mixed with the whites. Also is it best to mix the warm and cool lights? Or keep them separate for flower and veg? Sorry may be a little confusing.

Anyways looking at the parts to build one you could save $500.

  2. Good questions!

Have you spent any time on the Amare Technologies website? Lots of answers there

Also, due to economy of scale, you will likely be financially ahead (or very little out of pocket) buying their panels, complete with warranty

The coolwhite has a higher lumen rate than warm white because Blue light will give higher readings. Its not the lumens # that should be looked at when considering a light source rather umol #s from the color Temp needed.
5000K for Vegging-4000K for the cycle-3000K for straight flower runs
I like to veg w/a separate5000K source and Use flower 3000K fixture for flower.

  4. Awesome that is what I wanted to do. One led with cool white cobs for veg and another for warm white lights for flower.
