Nothing's better than getting free weed, unless your free weed is being given to you by your local government.

A judge in New Jersey ordered Freehold Township to reimburse one of their employees for the medical marijuana he uses to treat an injury he received while on the job. Judge Lionel Simon said he believes medical marijuana is safer than opioids, and that it's better for the plaintiff to use cannabis than dangerous drugs, and therefore the township should have to pay for it.

Freehold Township tried to argue that since marijuana is illegal at the federal level, it would also be illegal for them to pay for the man's cannabis. However Judge Simon noted that since the man was the one buying the cannabis, and the township would simply be reimbursing him for those purchases, there shouldn't be anything illegal about it.

While this is the first time a public employer has been forced to pay for someone's medical marijuana in New Jersey under worker's compensation, a similar decision occurred in 2014 when a private employer was forced to do the same.

Some wonder if this will set a new precedent for medical marijuana and worker's compensation in New Jersey, and Judge Simon himself at multiple times during the hearing said he hopes the New Jersey Supreme Court takes up the case to make the law fully clear.

So basically if you want to get the government to buy your weed, just move to New Jersey and try to get hurt while working.
