Is there a known reason for this?

  1. Why is DECember not the tenth month, and OCTOber the eighth month? is there an explanation, because it doesn't make sense. Because I think two months out of the year are complete bullshit and added in as filler b/c DECember was originally the tenth month, and OCTOber the eighth.

They didn't base the names of the months on Greek prefixes but on Latin prefixes. or vise versa, or something l don't know, never mind.

edit: Ok so (quick google), it is because we used a Roman calendar that only had 10 months and then we added a couple more months. Early Roman Calendar | Calendars

Romans must of been pretty stupid to not consider the lunar or constellation cycle into their calender.
