Is there a complete qb explained thread?

  1. A little bit. And having everything I need. I’ll watch some YouTube and build some confidence.

  2. Horticulture Lighting Group Quantum Board LED Grow Light Kits
this site helped me get a grip. tbone is the guy who linked it so I bought from them pre assembled. I got more money than DIY sense. But once you see all the lights together you can kind of get an idea. I am attempting at this moment to flower one plant uner a 135w v2 3000k. So too soon for me to make a judgement. But I vegged under the 135w 4000k and it was really nice. Couldn't ask for more for one vegging plant 2x2.

  3. So now I’m looking for the best deal on 4 132s. I’m going to run veg separately and I’ll start germinating a strain every 2 weeks. Going to run 1 plant under each 132. Flowering only so it looks like I’ll need them all in 3k. Going to watch some YouTube on building them now.

  4. I’ve looked into the build my own kits, and it seems I’m only saving 25 per fixture. Is that true? Where is the good package deal? I checked the link above. Same price as everything else I can find.

  5. Well, I had the same concerns as you, coming from HPS, I always had heavy dense buds. But I observed Tbone, Trojangrower, Or_Gro, and a few others, and the qbs produce.

    A 2x2 would use two qb120’s

  6. I have 4x qb120’s over a 2x4

  7. That looks amazing! My space is actually 20”x20” per plant. I thought one qb135 would be perfect for that. That’s why I’ve been looking for bulk 135 boards... or 132. Will that not give me the dense buds a 150hps would do?

Which will only run me 60 each.

But I would have to filter and exhaust due to heat.

  8. Two qb132’s or qb120’s would do it without heat sinks. One qb135 with heat sinks would do it too but it runs hotter and is twice the cost of a 4 pack of qb120’s or 132’s per watt.

  9. 150 HPS is actually not a very good light. The efficiency is horrible, too much heat compared to usable lumens of output. The 600 watt is the only semi efficient HPS light and they still get ripping hot. I just converted from an air cooled 600 which raised temps 8-9 degrees. My qbs, all 12 boards and three drivers in there, and I’m only 1.2-1.8 degrees higher than adjacent room. You can touch these boards for hours they run so cool

  10. Thank you for all the help. I ordered 2 ballasts and 1 pack of boards. That will have me setup for 2 of the 4 boxes. I’ll order the other 2 in a few weeks. Germinating this week!!

Alright... since I got you here, I need to get my veg area setup. I am leaning towards t5 for veg. I used cfl bulbs in previous grows, but I want tighter nodes. I will have 6 clones and 6 plants in veg at all times. All the plants in veg will be 2 weeks apart in age... that’s the cycle.. saying that to point out that some will be much smaller. When it’s time to flower the largest, I’ll use one plant to cut clones and the other moves into flowering. That’s my perpetual plan.

  12. The drivers I linked are meant to run 4 boards each. Cancel that order and let me see if I can find one for two qb120’s

  13. That’s fine.
I can run 2 grow boxes on each driver. Next I’ll just need to order another 4 boards.

It says 250w power supply. I assumed that meant it would power 2 120s.

  15. Lol. That’s where HLG is confusing. It’s 120 diodes at 60 rated watts per board. You can overdrive these some, but then you’ll need heat sinks. One guy ran 600 watts through a qb288 (?) and didn’t break it.

  16. How big is your space for veg? These lights kick ass

  17. Nice. So when I am able, I’ll just need the 4 more boards.

I want to keep the veg area as small as possible.

If you get the qb132s, and you are putting two boards in each 2x2, then you would want to use either the LRS-150-36 driver to power TWO boards, this driver is relatively cheap at about $18 yes, but it's efficiency is around 88%. Aternatively, you could use the HLG-150H-36A for TWO boards which is more expensive, dimmable, and has 93% efficiency. With either of these drivers, you would wire the boards to them in parallel, which means that each positive and negative from the boards would go to the positive and negative on the output of the drivers.

Or if you get the qb120s, it's exactly the same, except they are 24 volts not 36 volts so you would get one of the following drivers to power two boards:

    LRS-150-24
    HLG-120H-24A
