is it possible to mold glass just using a candle?

    i'm trying to make a slider out of this cap to a jar.
    i want it to just be straight glass,
    and i would like to try and mold i myself.
    unfortunately, i don't have access to a blow torch.
    i was trying to do it with just a candle,
    and it seems as though it may be working,
    but VEEERRRRRYYYYYYY slowly.
    and i am an impatient person lol.
    does anyone know for sure if it works,
    or if there's any way to speed up the process?

    candles don't get hot enough, you need a blowtorch. BernzOmatic torches should work, propane or mapp gas

    you can pick up the torch and propane at walmart for like $15

    The melting point of glass is 3133 F

    The outer core (blue) of a candle flame is about 1670 F.....

    On edit: It's not only about melting the glass but also about the cooling process which is not just letting it cool off...or it will crack.

    i don't have access to one though :(
    it seemed to be working a bit...
    the glass is more concave than before.
    and when you look through it it magnifies things a bit.
    i just held it over the flame for a very long time each time,
    and then pressed on it.
    i had to hold it with a cloth because it was too hot.

    i know it wasn't melting or anything.
    just heating up just enough to be slightly malleable.
    at least i think so...
    lol.
    i might be fooling myself.
    i'm stoned....
    i'll keep trying,
    and see if i get more noticable results.

    yeah, i know how it's done,
    i want to become a glass blower.
    i just have a lot of time on my hands,
    pretty much no resources,
    and a really cool little piece of glass i wanna make into a slider.
    i figured it was worth a shot :p

    we have some at school,
    maybe i can "borrow" one for a bit :p

    1. A candle does have anywhere near the heat to melt any kind of glass.
    2. Neither does a torch.
    3. Glass has be brought up and down in temperature very, very slowly otherwise it will crack. A glass plate my mom made once went from about 4000 degrees to 1000 over a 6 hour period and shattered into dozens of pieces in the process.
    4. I hate to break it to you but there is almost no way whatsoever that an average joe like you and I have to successfully molding glass into any kind of shape.

    It seems strange to me that you don't have access to a torch. There really cheap. But I am not here to bash you.

    I am pretty sure what your doing won't work, I don't blow glass but like others said I think it needs to be hotter.

    You can also buy a cheap slide that will likely be higher quality in a headshop, but I am sure you already knew that.
