Like the title states, i am want to be stacking two rubbermaid containers. Is a 250 W HPS hanging from the top going to be too much to grow 1/2 plants inside ( scrog )? Thanks
Anyone? Im pretty sure it wont "melt" the plastic, but I know it will get hot in there... How hot is too hot?
i think the hottest you want is like 85 degree ambient temp. i think you can do this but you'll need some serious airflow for cooling.
Then this is your first time. It's possible to overload a plant with light but one 250 HPS is probably not going to do it. For this theoretical grow the heat will be the problem. Even with proper ventilation you'll need at least 10" distance between the HPS bulb and the top of the plant.
I just ran into the same problem, sort of. Im using one of those rubbermaid storage cabinets and once I switched to 250w hps my temp went up to 96. So I mounted the cabinet 1" above my bubbler and cut a hole in the bottom so the plant sicks up through. Now my temp is back at 86.
