  1. So I'm going to try to make a proper indoor grow box this winter but I don't know all of the technicalities that are involved, so that's where you guys come in! xD

    Here's what I'm looking at now:

    Grow Box - $79.53
    62 Inch x 36 Inch x 20 Inch(Perfect size for my closet, measured it & managed to find this one that fits almost to the inch with just a little bit of leeway).

    Light - $72.52
    150 Watt High Power Sodium(HPS) Light from Sun Systems.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001JL0BWG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1TQQ4ZHI2444B

    Light Clip - $12.29
    1/8" Compact Rope Light Clip from HydroFarm.

    Carbon Filter - $42.00
    4 Inch in diameter, I'm pretty sure this fits in the grow box above because the amazon page says this: Vent Duct Holes: * Roof: 100 mm (4-Inch ) * Top back: 100 mm (4-Inch ) * Bottom right: 100mm (4-Inch ), so I'd assume that I'd be able to put this filter inside one of those. Also, this is from the same seller/brand as the grow box itself.

    Fans - $25.00 + $17.02 = $42.02
    4 Inch in diameter, same as the carbon filter above, it's from the same seller/brand as the grow box so I'd assume that it would fit in one of the duct holes, correct me if I'm wrong though.

    &

    6 Inch fan, will be clipped on the frame to increase airflow.

    Total = $248.36

    Any suggestions? Comments? Feel free to leave them. Please & thank you!

  2. Thats a nice shopping list. About the price of a bag of killer weed.

    I recommend soil, organic so no expensive chemicals needed, get feminized seeds. and you will be ready to get your grow on.

    good luck.

  3. I have some 30-10-10 MiracleGro fertilizer & I'm going to get 10-20-10 when it starts to flower & I use standard MiracleGro soil that comes in a big green bag :p. I think I should be good on the soil part.

    I have my plants in 6 inch pots. When do you think I need to transfer them into a bigger pot & how big of a pot? Or will they be ok in a 6 inch pot?

    Well MG soil and nutes are far from optimal but you can get away with them, they will burn plants so easy does it.

    Some people grow in big pots, over water then the plant gets stunted as it drowns in wet soil that never gets dry.  You can go big and grow big plants if you have time. huge pots are not necessary , they just eat space.
    personally I like a 8 to 12 inch pot 1.5 gallon to 2 gallon like you see young trees growing in at garden shops as the last pot they grow in.

    right now im doing a sea of green in 12" square pots with 4 plants per pot. The reason I get away with it is the 1,000W light. I dont want to say how many but theres alot of plants. :)

    The way I grow I would cram about 25 in that tent. small plants that are almost all bud.

    Alright, I'll try that out.
    Just to clarify what I've learned in a nutshell & to backup my info, I give my plants 18 hours of light during the seedling stage(lasts 1-3 weeks indoors), then I give them around 14 hours of light during the vegetative stage(2-4 weeks) & then I give them 12 hours of light during the flowing stage until harvest?
    Oh, and also, should I switch from my 150watt HPS light to a 200watt HPS light during flowering?

  6. that will work, there is no set rule, just make a plan that fits your schedule and stick to it. your plan will work perfectly.

    Myself I go 18/6 then go right to 12/12. give them all the light they can get in veg. Right now my plants are all autoflowering and are in 16/8 and budding up fat.

  7. Alright. Thanks a bunch man. :)

    @zezecha
    Bump.
    All input is greatly appreciated, expert or not!

  9. Go bigger on the bulb. I'd jump right to 400 switchable

  10. holes in your grow tent are for the duct tube to come out.  The Carbon filter typically goes on one end of the HPS cool tube.  The exhaust on the other end of the tube, in which case that inline booster fan isn't going to cut it.  You need an inline blower or mixed air flow fan.  Something that can create a back pressure.
