this winter ill start on it. when it cools down. im taking 2 trucks and making one,,, ive allready got the inline 235 c.i. motor in my parts truck humming. and damn does it run good. my future plans is to get a howards cam for it. and run dual 1 barrell carbs, and im thinking of cutting the top off it and putting a canvas top on it so it will be a convertible, and putting 2 aero snorkel hood scoops on it. and painting it '' dodge '' plum purple, heres the 2 trucks i'll be making into one .. and the 2'nd truck ..
the 2'nd truck is in jam up condition.. the inside looks reallly good. the guy im getting it from.. his dad at one time bought a lot of vehicles from auctions.... on the side of the door, it has a county..and it was a street dept. truck. this truck has sit in the same spot for 30-40+ years.....im in no hurry to bring it back to life i dont need a vehicle but it's a project, ive allready got the motor all painted up real nice, .. ..
Today is a sad day ...a beutiful old chevy with dodge plum. Not so much the color just the dodge part. That truck is smoking hot the way it sits. Time is the best painter there is.
it will be a alternator... the 2'nd truck has a alternator, [ the one im building ] and it has a saginaw tranny.. it will be a 3 on the tree when im done,
i spun the idea of just clearcoating the original patina... but i own so much painting equipmwnt it would be a shame not to use the stuff...i guess we will see what it looks like after a good pressure washing... i would like to keep the fact that it was a old city truck back in its day. why it got auctioned i dont know. the odomoter only has 4,000 miles on it. and from the looks inside the cab. i may believe that odomoter.
i joined a website. of people that is devoted to nothing but fixing up these trucks. and got catalougs that have everything one may need for these trucks, and the hood i got is really sought after by guys that put these trucks toghter, i dont have a pic of it. this isnt the first time ive built a truck that started out looking like shit... i built this datsun in the 90's its a picture of a picture, wasnt no internet or digital pictures back then id be driving this truck today. but i had issues with the choke and it caught fire, and burned down .. ,,
and no thats not me in the picture thats a buddy that helped me with the bondo, ,,that truck was a sleeper. it still had the 4 cylinder,,,55 m.p.h. wide open,,,i took a fire extinguisher bottle and knocked the sprayer off it. painted it blue and stuck a n.o.s. sticker on it with some stainless steel braided hose , and mounted it where the cab meets the bed. the hose went between the bed and cab and stopped there, it had no n.o.s. ..you'll never guess how many people would meet me at the light and want to race... they would smoke the tires as i putt=putted on down the road laughing,,,, but i also got pulled over by the law a lot.. most of them just wanted to see the truck.... and laughed as i explained to them what it was, so i do have experience in making a terd shine... my 60 apache is gonna be the same thing. it's gonna look smokin.. but you can only do so much with a 6 cylinder,
