yah it's a rental car as well do you think I would have a problem with them towing it? I have the keys and registration but no rental agreement i left it at home

I'm pretty sure if they smelled it, your car and all your possessions within would have already been seized and sold for police profit I think you're fine, although I do understand why you're sketched out by this situation
Keep in mind that if you get to the point where you need to show your Cali card, The law here specifically states that posession of a card is not probable cause to search etc.
