i forgot how great the Deftones were

    i was cleaning my room the other day and found some old CDs from junior high/high school. i used to be really into the Deftones so i decided to pop in Around The Fur and give it a listen. what a great album, i forgot how much i liked this band but now i remember:D

    That's the band where all the members are deaf, right?
    jk I never really listened to them but my friends played it in the car a few times. They're pretty good, I like them and I don't really like screaming vocals all that much.

    Nirvana is my favorite band, but My Own Summer might honestly be the best song I've heard. Deftones are my 3rd favorite band behind Queens of the Stone Age and Nirvana of course.

    Haha Chino isn't screaming in all of their songs. Try Digital Bath, Needles and Pins, Be Quiet and Drive, or Bored. It's more melodic screaming in those songs.

    I say give the screaming thing a try with this band. It's not like deathcore or Cannibal Corpse. They have a shitload of good songs. At least listen to Around the Fur and White Pony. The songs Bob_Gnarly posted are some of their best songs. They're supposed to be releasing another album early next year, and Diamond Eyes more than proved that they haven't lost any polish. Just gotta pray for Chi to get better so they can release Eros.

    have you ever heard of Kyuss? they're a stoner rock band with members of QOTSA. if you havn't, check them out. you'd probably like them.

    Also much better than QOTSA. Blues For The Red Sun and Welcome To Sky Valley in particular.

    Adrenaline, Around the Fur and White Pony were fuckin classic. I havent been able to really get into anything they've done since then though.

    Yeah. Gardenia is probably my favorite song by them. They remind me of the first Qotsa album (best album ever even over Nirvana's albums) with Garcia's vocals instead of Josh's. They are indeed fucking awesome.

    I remember when I was like 10 and I heard my brother listening to My Own Summer.

    Loved the deftones ever since.

    Kyuss is supposedly working on a new album, but them without Josh will probably be weird. Even if that doesn't go well, Qotsa is already in progress of finishing their new album, and I read an article saying some songs are influenced by their self titled album. I guess they went on tour performing their whole first album while writing new material. If their new album is anywhere near as good as the self titled album, I will get a Qotsa tattoo cuz that album was fucking incredible.

    Same here. I loved all three of the albums you listed, but once the self-titled album came out and Minerva was their big song, it just became too radio-friendly for me. Some of that album was okay, but it just wasn't what I'm looking for when I'm listening to Deftones. :p

    Funny thing to me is that I'm not even into a lot of metal-type shit these days. I'm more into classic rock or alternative rock or chill hippie music and such. But Deftones and Nine Inch Nails are two of the more "metal" type bands that I can't help but still love. ;)

    First song with my first band was My Own Summer.
    I played bass.. i always said that chino was one of the best vocalist in the genre.

    man i remember when chi got into that car accident that put him into that coma :(

    i feel like even though this was one of there later releases, it showcases chinos voice.
