Back in the day when money was actually worth something... and dime and nickels were made with 90% silver.. if a nickel is bigger and heavier than a dime how was a nickel worth more than a dime if they are equal parts silver?

Nickels were only made of silver from 1942-1945 due to copper being needed for the war effort. Aside from those war years, nickels are made of an alloy of 75% copper and 25% nickel.

  3. wow Idk what the hell I was reading the other day then.. I could of sworn nickels were made of silver.

Nope, only during WWII. Copper was needed for bullets so nickels got made out of silver and pennies were actually made of zinc. Dimes, quarters and halves were 90% silver until 1964 though.

    Here's one of the pennys
