Hydroton and rockwool

  1. Hey everyone
Just a quick question...s it okay to have your rockwool placed in your hydroton or should you have the top of the rockwool covered by hydroton. I heard it causes algea if you don't cover the top. Anyone have advice on this?

  2. the placement of rockwool inside the netpot does not matter. You just need to maintain adequate moisture level (spray, drip, or whatever) and make sure the light does not penetrate the netpot through gaps created by hydroton rocks. Also, do not completely soak the rockwool cube in water. Make sure when you pick it up it feels moist and not dripping with water.

  3. if u dont cover the top then the roots might not grow into the hydroton

  4. Well her roots are in the hydroton already. I just had some one tell me that If I didn't have my hydroton covering the rockwool then it could grow algea

  5. correct... algae can mess with plants and its always best to try to avoid it if possible, some have algae and never have problems

just cover it, its easy and takes five seconds
