Don't use plastic downstems unless you like plastic fumes. If you dont want to buy a bong order a metal downstem online and use that in some thick plastic bottle to prevent accidental plastic inhalation.
Jesus, I hate all of these stupid homemade bong ideas. If you're too lazy to save up for a real bong and actually put your health at risk, the best thing you can do is buy one of those bowl/downstem combos like somebody said above. Don't be stupid
