how to test if a joint is packed too tight?

    I've recently rolled 3 joints, and packed them with a pencil.
    Is there any way to test if they are too tight before i light em up?

    Toke it without lighting basically... When you inhale you should see and hear the paper contracting (unless it's packed too tight)

    that doesnt work with a twisty at the end still present though.

    just pack until you feel comfortable really, and then use the pencil trick you did is what i always do. then you can slowly put more if needed.
