How to fix the Red Ring of Death (RROD)!

  1. What up GC. I've recently decided to get back into gaming ever since I got my job two weeks ago. However, I found out that I wont be getting shit anytime soon seeing how I'm not getting paid much or getting many hours (my first paycheck was only $80 outta two weeks). I haven't seen another thread like this so I think this one is long overdue.

After doing a lot of research, I found that I can not only fix an Xbox with the RROD, but it's not as difficult as it seems. I found this website that goes over how to fix an Xbox with the RROD step-by-step.

The way I see it, with my job, it's between getting a used 360 and one with the rrod; I figured the used one will get the rrod sooner or later so I might as well get one w/ the rrod and give it a shot. If I can't get it to work, I'll just see how much it costs to get it fixed professionally or resell it if it costs too much.

Hell, if I can get it to work, I could even resell and make a little profit!

First, I'll start off by posting a video on how to disassemble your 360:

And how to reassemble your 360 after you've tested it and it works:

    Good luck everyone!

  2. Or you could do the towel trick...

Either way both ways void the warrenty..

This is obviously a solution for people without the warranty; not everybody has one.

If you read my post, the first two quotes said NOT do this if you have a warranty. It also said NOT to do the towel trick as that is only a temporary solution that makes the problem worse in the end.

  4. I have done a few of these and have run into a problem. Has anybody done a rrod fix and after reassembly, not had the fan work? I tried testing the fan in another WORKING 360 and now it shows the rrod and it's fan isn't working. WTF!? Could the fan have shorted out both boards? Any suggestions or info is appreciated.

  5. Never heard of that.

Did you damage the fan wire possibly in the process?

  6. Interesting.
