Thats cool and all but its not really blacksmithing.. your taking metal and just cutting it to shape it seems.. unless I miss read something.
Without checking the link, how do you hammer-forge hardened and tempered steel (a leaf spring) without annealing it first?
What you need is a diamond pick, some bread/porkchops, and some diamond armour and you sir are ready to go spelunking. Turn it to peaceful if this will be your first time. And always bring water buckets in case you step in lava.
