how much sodium hydroxide to use

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by urban guerrila, Jul 19, 2006.

  1. i've got some ph up containing sodium hydroxide that is really ment for ponds i cant tell you what the percentage is cos it does not say anywhere i was just wondering if anybody had any ideas on the amount i should use growing in soil to raise ph at least 1 point. The amount for pond use is 10ml per 50 gallons of water i calculated it for the amount of water i am using but it hasnt really done anything and im thinking it needs a stronger dose because it is in soil i would be very grateful for any assistence.

    p.s. quite urgent

  2. do not use it, using it will cause damage to the plant, use ph up instead..... and since your in soil you should use dolomite lime instead

sprinkle a few tablespoons arouind the top part of the soil and cover it with fresh soil and water your plants the lime will raise the soil ph do you know what ph your soil is right now?
