How much light intensity is necessary for photoperiodic lighting?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by Kazualty, May 22, 2019.

  1. I am considering planting a little early this year with some light assist to prevent going into flower early. What I really want to know is how much light is actually necessary to extend photoperiod? Could I use solar stake lights with around 200 lumens like these:

Or would I need something more powerful? This will only be necessary for the first month or so while they are still small. Hoping I can save money by not using big lights or possibly using solar.

Any information or tips greatly appreciated, thanks!

  2. You certainly could use those lights to prevent flowering.
Some here do that, so it works. I use CFL bulbs because I already have them.
It doesn't take much light to do this. Using the sun to grow, you're only using supplement to prevent flowering.
This year mine are on a timer to come on at 3am and off at 6:30am. Plants are vegging well.
