how much does a 400 w HPS draw electricty?

  1. I would appreciate if anyone could help me solve this calculation.

The electricity current i have is 220V.

I am looking at the 400 w HPS light+ballast and wanted to know:

Q: How much would a 400w HPS draw electricity in AMPS.

    Thank you

  2. Watts = amps*volts, so, amps= watts/volts. A 400 w light and ballast will probably use around 420-450 watts total, so you're looking at 450/220 = 2.045 amps.

  3. Bout 15-30 bucks. 600w runs me 50-60 a month. Take care.

  4. 15-30 "bucks" is not "amps" :p

  5. Never said it was:confused:

I thought he wanted to know how much it would cost to,,, but lookin back at when he mentioned he had a 220v outlet and also mentioned 4oow in amps im kinda confused to...lol

  7. ^ you gotta stop "liking" my posts. Now you got ryeseisi mad at me! XD!

  8. That's what it cost in my area EastCoast...:D

  9. To the op you'd be totally safe running the 400w on the 220v it would also work fine on the standard 110v, but i have read that it will draw less when ran on the 220v.

  10. It will draw the same amount of power (400 watts) on a 110 or 220v line, but the 220v line has more capacity to handle it, therefore it will draw fewer amps. It just means you can run more shit on a 220v line than on a 110v line, not because it draws less energy but because the line can handle more.

  11. thank you all. it is clear now
