My seeds are germinating in a cup of water for 22 hours now and I'm going to plant them soon. How many inches away should my t5 setup: Amazon.com: T5 Commercial Tube Fixture Light Size / Bulb: 4 Feet / 4: Patio, Lawn & Garden be for the seeds when i put them in the the soil. And should i leave my seed in the cup of water in there for longer or is 24 hours good?
I just put it on the windowsill until it sprouted, took about two days. Then you want your little baby to be close to the light, I'm pretty sure 1-2 inches isn't even too close. Can I get some one more experienced to also add their opinion?
I've always germinated using wet paper towel + saranwrap on a plate with a heating pad and a second plate turned over on top for darkness, but I think as soon as you can see the seed splitting and a root pop out 1/2" or so should ideally be the time to plant it.
you dont need light until they break soil. lights only for warmth. you could do window sill or start the lights up. flours get close, I did my cfls 1-2 inches away. I'd start t-5's at like 4-5 inches away and move them to 2-3 max.
