I dont know about hydrated lime looks more refined than the garden lime. I use a garden lime that will raise the PH. I try to add 1tablespoon per gallon of soil. In a potted plant you may have to remove the top 2-3 inches of soil. Put the lime down then replace the soil.
Or you can raise the ph of the water with lime. If you check the ph of the water before you mix fertillizer into it. Then after you may see that the fertillizer lowers your ph of the water this is when i will add some lime to my water to bring it up I use about 2 teaspoons to get back to normal 6-6.5. I hope that helps out.

  3. thanks man. i did some reading in the grow bible, threw a bit of dolomite lime on the surface, gently mixed it in, and watered with hydrated lime to raise it, and the dolomite should buffer it. that sound alright? +rep
