Help with topping.

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by ssg, Oct 30, 2011.

  1. Hey everybody! I got a quick noob question. I start all my plants from seeds, and I grew only with fem seeds, and I would to these plants.

Well, I started growing some plants from regular seeds. They are showing pistils, and I was wondering if it is safe to top these plants?

I am scared since they are regular seeds they might get too stressed out and hermie, or go back to a male state or something like that.

    Please help me out!

  2. Topping will not make your plant change sex. People top all the time. This is just hermie hysteria repeated by novice growers.

  3. I'm pretty sure topping should be done in the vegetative cycle. Like you said, it will probably cause stress and after the initial strech from switching the lights, the plants are focusing on flowering and not new nodes..

  4. Now would be a bit late I believe. Guy above is true you want to top in vegetative cycle, once it starts to sex you will be messing up additional bud sites but cutting it off.

  5. Thanks for the help =]
