So I've just moved house and may need to move again very soon as each room only has 1 plug socket! Can I safely power 2 x 600w lamps plus extras for dwc?
for every 100 watts that is 1 amp. your wall will do 15 amps max i never suggest pushing it past 12 amps for lights so your running 12 amps with 2 600 watt ballasts . so yes you can safely run two 600 out of 1 plug . but you will need to run every thing else off a different plug . the dwc system those air pumps only use 50 watts or much less . so you could run this buy two power strips run all off those . im sure the wall plug has two outlets so buy 2 power strips or you will have to change the out let to have 2 outlets its very easy just hit the breaker first . and never change a breaker to put in a bigger one if it pops . an ac unit or heater you will need to get power else where its not hard or costly can hire an electrician .
Thanks for the info, unfortunately each room only has a single socket! I should be able to manage though just didn't want to push it to close to the limit
