Heart attack caused by smoking?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by John Lennon, Aug 20, 2013.

  1. Ok so a close friend of mine had a full bowl of dank by himself. After that he went to the metro station and started feeling bad like his heart was beating faster. Suddenly he almost blacked out and luckily he managed to go the medic attention office. They told him that he had 'taquicardia" (I dont know the name in english but it means that his heart was beating too fast).

After that he went to the doctor and he told him that he smokes weed. However, the doc replied that it wasnt the weed, that it was the poor breakfast he used to eat.

Its been almost 2 months since that incident. But yesterday he told me that he had the same problem last weekend at 2 am. He told me that he smoked a lot that day like 4 bowls in the whole day. He basically had the same symptoms but even worse. And he also felt like he wasnt able to breath. His parents took him to emergency.
Hes going on a t break now lol i dont believe but im pretty sure hes going to lower his comsumption.

    Any opinions or similar experiences?

  2. Don't think it was a heart attack but more so his blood pressure dropping causing him to nearly faint. This happened to me a couple months back and I even made a topic about it. It it was a heart attack he would have felt it in his left arm.

  3. Sounds like dehydration.

  4. One bowl wouldn't do that to a brother. He's either allergic or its something else. Or he was really dehydrated and had really low blood sugar. No need for a t-break, just tell him to drink water and have food in his system.
Come to think of it, I had a similar experience once. I smoked a few bowls of some really dank dank and was shtony as can be. Then I took a medium sized dab and started feeling not so hot. I sat down, but kept getting worse. I couldn't open my eyes cause everything seemed way too bright (it was a sunny day) and I was a little worried. My homes got an Arizona and I had some and felt fine about a half hour later. Just really high and diggin the universe's vibes.
I've always blamed the combo of getting really high and being dehydrated for that scenario.

  5. He greened out and could not handle it. Silly kids.

Sweetie, it is more likely his diet and dehydration. If he ate a sweet breakfast, he could be sugar crashing! A sugary breakfast raises your blood sugar, then you produce too much insulin and "sugar crash"! Cannabis can make this worse by by lowering your blood sugar.

Cannabis is about as safe of a drug as you can get! But smoking ANYTHING in excess can set off an asthma attack or other breathing problems- my hubby used to do it to himself all the time with tobacco.

Cannabis is about as dangerous to your heart as sex! (Do you think he'd quit having sex because his heart is beating rapidly?  )  Even dudes with most types of heart trouble can use cannabis safely!

I have several pages of links to articles and studies like that on cannabis and the heart, but that should be enough to ease your minds!

Tell your friend to listen to his doctor and clean up his diet and drink enough liquids! The average American diet SUCKS! It has too much sugar, salt and the wrong kinds of fats. Chemicals that Mama Nature never thought of are in most foods. (I don't like being the food industry's "guinea pig"! Do you?)

And even the chemical composition of modern food is different than what folks ate 100 years ago! Omega 3 is a good example! 100 years ago almost all beef was grass fed. Grass contains trace amounts of Omega 3 that the cattle concentrate. Modern corn-fed beef has very little Omega 3 because corn has about ZERO Omega 3. Walnuts used to be a common staple and contain Omega 3. (I can remember my grandparents having a huge burlap bag filled with walnuts in their basement.) Now they are pricier than steak! Fish on Friday was the norm once. Fish has Omega 3. How many of you have eaten fish this month

And you and your friend may be interested in knowing that Omega 3 is NECESSARY to make working CB1 receptors in your brain (and your body, too). The CB 1 receptors are what THC activates to get you high!  :smoking:  Defective CB1 receptors can't get you high!  They also cause depression and other "impaired emotional behavior"!

  7. yea hah happens to me somtiems.

  8. I thought I was going through cardiac arrest once after smoking, so I layed down and watched Family Guy then everything just chilled out

  9. He may have atrial fibrillation, a condition that is becoming more common. It means that the atria, top of your heart chambers, is beating faster, and out of sync with the main pumping chambers. This can make the person short of breath and lightheaded.....common to people with high blood pressure........I'd go to the Doc....................
